DawgDad.com welcomes Fudgie to the family

DawgDad.com is happy to welcome the first Pug to the DawgDad family.  Fudgie will be turning one soon and is always super excited for his afternoon walk.  Fudgie's appearance on the Dawg Blog came with a special request from his mom.  She mentioned a lack of "Pug Face" on the Dawg Blog and thought Fudgie could be the answer.  Now, I have always enjoyed taking requests from clients but getting close to a pug's face without proper equipment is a dangerous mission.  Fortunately, my pug sneeze shield arrived today and we now have some pug face!   Welcome to the DawgDad family Fudgie!

DawgDad.com welcomes Mason to the family

Mason is the newest top dog with DawgDad dog walking service.  He's a one-year-old lab who was adopted over the weekend and is now king of the backyard.   Mason sure hit the dog lottery.  He has a loving family, a backyard with endless sticks and neighbor dogs all woofing for his attention.  Mason is a welcomed addition to the family and although I don't speak "woof", it sounds like the neighbor dogs think so too!

Lucky is the newest top dog with DawgDad Dog Walking Service.  He's an English Bulldog living the dream in Arlington, VA.  Lucky has his own DawgDad that serves as his 4 p.m. wake up call.  His personal alarm clock wakes him up peacefully, always takes him for a nice stroll through the neighborhood and furthermore dispenses a treat.  My alarm clock doesn't have any of those features!   I guess you could say he's lucky!   Welcome to the DawgDad family Lucky!

DawgDad.com welcomes Fitzgerald to the family

This little top dog is Fitzgerald.  He's the first ever French Bulldog with DawgDad.com.  My English Bulldog Bozzley has been putting the corporate pressure on me to welcome some more bulldogs to the family.  I keep telling him to take another 18 hour nap and I will see what I can do.  Poor Bozzley however, didn't factor in the good hearing of his Bulldog counterparts as two Frenchies called looking for their DawgDad.  Fitzgerald is a welcomed addition to the family and please keep your ears up for another Frenchie coming soon!

Where's the Boss?

There's been lots of excitement this year with all these top dogs getting started with DawgDad.com.  My boss Bozzley has kept me on a short leash in an effort to keep up with all these new dogs.  He's a tough boss and that should be expected out of an English Bulldog.  Thanks for being such a great boss Bozzley and also could you please stop jumping on me, thanks!

Lucy is the newest top dog with DawgDad.com.  She's a five-year-old Shiba Inu who recently moved to Pentagon City.  Lucy has one of the best views in town and I was curious to find out what she does for a living.  I asked her and she told me she was retired.  I was impressed and ended my questions.  I did ask her what her secret to success was and she said, "Be nice to your parents!"  Welcome to the family Lucy!

DawgDad.com welcomes Tuna to the family

Tuna is the newest top dog on DawgDad.com.  She's a four-year-old Chocolate Lab.  She's an exceptionally silly dog and with a name like "Tuna", she should be. To give you an example of her antics, this picture was taken seconds after she made one giant lick of the camera lens.  Boy, was I surprised.   I always knew one of these top dogs would get the nerve to do it and Tuna was the girl to deliver.  Now, I know there might be some Labs reading this all excited that they might receive a first date goodnight kiss from her.  That is none of my business.  Although, if word gets back to me that you were a total dog on the first date, you're going to have to deal with her DawgDad!

To give some perspective on how old Dingo is, Dingo would be receiving his high school diploma this May.  He's 17-years-old, which makes him a whopping 119-years-old in dog years!  I heard a great quote about dogs today from Agnes Sligh Turnbull:  "Dogs' lives are too short.  Their only fault, really."   After seeing that quote, I guess that makes Dingo perfect!  Welcome to the family Dingo!

Happy Inauguration Week from DawgDad.com!

What an exciting week here in Washington, DC!  There are people everywhere.  Yesterday, I was eating at the Pentagon City Mall food court and after five minutes of looking for a table,  I finally found one.  After a few bites of pizza, I looked up and there were cell phone camera flashes on me from all directions.  Now although my slice of pizza was delicious, I wouldn't call it picture worthy.  I looked to my left and John & Cindy McCain sat down at my table!  I felt like the popular kid in the lunch cafeteria!  Unfortunately, the couple got up a few minutes after sitting down.  Being cool seniors in all, they must have realized that they accidentally sat down at the freshman table.  My other theory is that they thought I smelled like a dog.

DawgDad.com welcomes the newest dog to the family

Kai is the newest addition to the DawgDad family.  She's a four-month old puppy from Old Town Alexandria, VA.  The most challenging part of hanging out with Kai is crowd control or as the young kids are saying these days, "Posse".  I watched a couple that was in the checkout line drop their goods to come out and see Kai.  This happens on occasion when I am taking my Bulldog on walks but his loud breathing, snarling, snorting and drooling zest for life can make even the biggest dog lover perform a sidewalk U Turn.  If you see Kai marching the sidewalks of Old Town Alexandria, go ahead and drop your important checkout items and come say hello!

Off-road dog walk through Lubber Run Park

I had a chance to get Bozzley out for some creek fun today at Lubber Run Park in Arlington.  Since Bozzley sleeps close to 18 hours in a day, it can be a challenge scheduling fun time for him around his sleepy time.  Bozzley agreed with me to come along for the day and he had too much fun.  Currently, he is on his fourth hour of sleep and I am forecasting a 24 hour slumber for him.  Good night Bozzley.

DawgDad.com welcomes the newest dog to the family

This is Penny, a four-year old rescue dog.  Penny is signed up for dog jogging.  She is real docile and sweet but all you have to do is say the magic word "walk" and she will leave you in her paw tracks.  Don't even think about mentioning the word "jog".  As we were walking out the door today, Penny mentioned that she is probably faster than me.  I agreed.  After the jog, Penny asked me why I made her wear a leash & collar.  I told her that it's her speed brakes.

Holiday dog picture contest finalist #2!

Lia B. submitted this great picture of her dog Berryessa.  Her dog's name around the holidays is Reindeer Essa.  This picture would have made it on the Dawg Blog yesterday but was held up for review by one of the difficult judges on the dog panel.  That obnoxious & difficult judge is an English Bulldog named Simon.  This judge insisted that Reindeer Essa should be disqualified because the antlers matched the coat perfectly making her a real reindeer.  The poodle on the dog panel named Paula interjected,  "Simon, it doesn't matter if she's a reindeer or a dog, I think she's beautiful!"  At that point, tension was at an all time high and It came down to the third judges vote.  The rottweiler named Randy jumped on the table and said,  "Dawg pound, we got a hot one tonight!"

Holiday dog picture contest finalist!

The first finalist for the holiday dog picture contest is JINKS, a newly adopted Miniature Pincher who lives in Bowie, Maryland.  JINKS's owner James mentioned that he's a ham for the camera.  I agree with that 100 percent.   JINKS looks like quite the teacher's pet but he isn't fooling the DawgDad.  A dog with the name "JINKS" in all capitals spells TROUBLE.  Congrats to JINKS, the teacher's pet, dog model and trouble maker extraordinaire!

Hanging out each week with Boozer and all the other top dogs is easily the best part of running DawgDad.com.   However, It isn't always dog biscuits and gravy around here and I do have my challenges as well.  Probably the biggest challenge and hardest part of my job is dealing with my boss.  Now, I have never had a dog as a boss before and you might be thinking a dog would be quite easy to work for. You would be wrong.  Let me give you an example.  Yesterday, I finished walking my top dogs and headed for home.  Now my boss typically sleeps 16-18 hours a day and you never ever want to wake him up.  Unfortunately, I came through the door and awakened sleeping beauty.  Bozzley got up from his slumber and without saying anything to me, came over to my desk.  At that poin
t, I thought I was about to get fired.  For the next 10 minutes, my boss proceeded to sniff me.  It was humiliating.  It's quite clear what's going on; My boss thinks I am cheating on him with other dogs!  If any readers out there have any ideas how to handle this problem without taking it to the Poodles in H.R., please let me know asap.

Sincerely,
An employee in the dog house

Happy 5th Birthday Bozzley!

All of you squirrels in Arlington better head for the trees because this little rambo isn't playin anymore. After watching him go 0 for 80 every month, I figured I would throw this dog a bone and even the playing field.
If this new birthday scarf doesn't do the trick, I guess next year I will get him some camo paint for his tongue.
Happy Birthday Bozzley!

The giant butt of a St. Bernard

This poor Basset Hound I saw yesterday was begging for some fresh air.

Going face to face with a Grizzly Bear

So there I was enjoying a sunny afternoon at a Dog park in Arlington, Virginia.  Lying in the grass, I heard some rustling off my right shoulder.  Then I heard a bark that sounded like a deep, ferocious growl coming from the woods.  My instinct kicked in and I immediately knew it was a Grizzly Bear.  With no time to hide my pb & j sandwich, I ate it.  Suddenly, the giant beast was moving towards me from the woods.  My worst fears were coming true: it was brown, four legs and heading right for me!  I curled up in a ball, closed my eyes and waited for the beast to eat me like a sandwich.  When I looked up, it was Chewie licking me on the face, letting me know he scared that giant Grizzly away.

I would like one order of sharp puppy teeth please?

Munson's dad has been teaching his puppy to play fetch although there have been a few accuracy problems along the way.

Bozzley the English Bullfrog

While some African Bullfrogs weigh in at five pounds, this English Bullfrog tips the scale at 56.  It appears both species have the same frog posture but the pronounced jaw and teeth make the English Bullfrog easily distinguishable to the trained eye.  Happy Halloween from DawgDad.com!
